Day trip to Essen for your group: the international Christmas market, the Essener Lichtwochen illuminations and, on request, the Zollverein UNESCO site.
During Advent, the centre of Essen hosts an international Christmas market: exhibitors from many countries offer crafts and specialities between the Kennedyplatz, the Kettwiger Straße and the Willy-Brandt-Platz. The Essener Lichtwochen, a Christmas lights tradition dating back to the 1950s, light up the shopping streets with illuminated motifs. Your group can also discover the Zollverein Coal Mine Industrial Complex, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, or the cathedral treasury and its famous Golden Madonna. Mulled wine, gingerbread and roasted chestnuts accompany the stroll until nightfall.
