Day trip for your group: the Louvre-Lens museum and its Galerie du Temps, the Canadian National Vimy Memorial and Notre-Dame-de-Lorette.
This day combines art and remembrance, in the heart of the UNESCO-listed former mining basin. At the Louvre-Lens, the Galerie du Temps presents masterpieces from the Louvre, from Antiquity to the 19th century, in a vast, light-filled space. The afternoon is devoted to the Great War: the Canadian National Vimy Memorial and its two white pylons, then the Notre-Dame-de-Lorette necropolis, the largest French military cemetery, and the Ring of Remembrance, inscribed with the names of almost 580,000 soldiers who fell in the region.
Programme
- Morning departure from the place of your choice.
- Arrival in Lens at around 10.00 am.
- Visit to the Galerie du Temps at the Louvre-Lens museum (guided tour on request).
- Reserved group lunch (on request).
- Visit to the Canadian National Vimy Memorial and its preserved trenches.
- Discovery of the Notre-Dame-de-Lorette necropolis and the Ring of Remembrance.
- Departure from Lorette at around 5.00 pm and return to your area in the evening.
