Day trip to the Bay of the Somme for your group: Saint-Valery-sur-Somme, the little steam train, Le Crotoy and a mussels lunch.
The Bay of the Somme, awarded the Grand Site de France label, is one of the most beautiful bays in the world. Saint-Valery-sur-Somme, with its medieval town and sailors’ houses, faces Le Crotoy on the other side of the estuary. In between, the Bay of the Somme Railway runs its vintage trains through the salt meadows. On the menu: mussels from the bay and, for nature lovers, watching the seals resting on the sandbanks with a nature guide.
Programme
- Early morning departure from the place of your choice.
- Arrival in Saint-Valery-sur-Somme at around 10.00 am.
- Stroll through the upper town and the sailors’ quarter (guided tour on request).
- Vintage train ride between Saint-Valery-sur-Somme and Le Crotoy (about 1 hour).
- Reserved group lunch of mussels (on request).
- Free time in Le Crotoy, on the beach facing the bay.
- Seal watching with a nature guide (on request).
- Departure from the bay at around 5.00 pm and return to your area in the evening.

- The Bay of the Somme Railway runs in season, usually from April to early November.
- Seal watching depends on the tides and the weather: bring comfortable shoes and binoculars.
- The coach meets the group in Le Crotoy when they get off the train.
